Assistant Conductor for P. Eötvös “Angels in America” at Neue Oper Wien

The 12th of August marked the beginning of an intense and thrilling rehearsal period for David Holzinger, who assisted music director Walter Kobéra in the new production of Peter Eötvös opera “Angels in America”.

The Neue Oper Wien is bringing this opera to Austria for the first time. The award-winning play by Tony Kushner was brought to life in the form of music by the composer Peter Eötvös for the first time in 2004 as a commissioned work by the Téâtre du Châtelet in Paris has since made its way to becoming a popular work all over Europe.

The moving result of the collaboration of the stage director Matthias Oldag and the fantastic ensemle of the Neue Oper Wien will premiere on the 26th of September 2019 at the Museumsquartier Wien.


Guest Performance at Tyrol Festival Erl

After the great success on two german opera stages Rüsselsheim and Aschaffenburg, the production of the Junge Oper Rhein-Main: “Caliban” by Moritz Eggert is now invited to perform at the opera festival Tiroler Festspiele in Erl. The clear echo in the media led to an invitation by the renowned festival.

The full ensemble of this opera production under the staging of the young director Max Koch and the musical direction of David Holzinger is very much looking forward to this artistic collaboration and the performance of Moritz Eggerts opera, based on Shakespeares “The Tempest” – a topic very much up to date.

The performance will be given on the 05th of July 2019 at 7pm at the festival hall in Erl. Tickets will be availible on the homepage of the Tiroler Festspiele.


11th-14th of March 2019 Conducting Masterclass Vicenza

The former pupil of Hans Swarowski, Julius Kalmar and the principal guest conductor of the Filarmonia Veneto, Romolo Gessi, invited eight participants to the European Conducting Masterclass at the prestigious villa Ghislanzoni in Vicenza to work on the Viennese Sound of the masters. David Holzinger was among the chosen ones, to conduct Haydn Symphony Nr. 104.

On the program, Joseph Haydns last of his London Symphonies Nr. 104, Symphony Nr. 1 by Ludwig v. Beethoven and the ouverture to Mozarts opera “Così fan tutte”.


30th/31st of March Kammerchor Rheinland-Pfalz

David Holzinger stepped in on a short term notice to lead to concerts with the german based chamber choir Kammerchor Rheinland-Pfalz. After an intense rehearsal period full of joy the two concerts were received with standing ovations.

Amongst others the program contained works by Eric Whitacre, Samuel Barber and George Gershwin.


26th of October Junge Oper Rhein-Main

After five intense weeks of rehearsing the team of the Jungen Oper Rhein-Main celebrated the premiere of the new opera “Caliban” by Moritz Eggert, based on Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”, on the 26th of October at Theater Rüsselsheim.

The next performance will be on Saturday, 10th of November at 7.30 pm at Theater Aschaffenburg.
